Prostrate in the driver’s seat, covered in blood and with no vital signs, was found the body of American Steven Rutkiewics, age 41 by the tourist police in Brasilito, Guanacaste on Sunday. The body was found in a Nissan Tiida, parked in front of the Don Brasilito bar. Rutkiewics is said to have lived in Potrero Beach, and was enjoying the holiday weekend with two female friends.

Police were called at 3:45 am after two masked men with weapons appeared from the darkness and assassinated Kiewigcz. The assailants did not take any property and left the scene after firing rounds into the victims head.

Police are investigating, but no suspects are in custody and the body was removed to the Forensic Science Complex in Heredia.
