Heavy rains caused floods in Upala

The canton of Upala has been heavily affected by the rains of the last hours, which caused flooding of rivers, houses, and problems in roads.

The Municipal Emergency Commission (CME) said that a number of reports on incidents were received in some sectors.

After 11:00 p.m. the authorities had to establish a shelter for 15 people, affected by the floods in Villa Nueva de San José de Upala.

Route 4, between El Progreso and Burma, is now closed, as heavy rains undermined the asphalt.

Committee officials are monitoring the community of Cuatro Bocas and Niño River and move to communities in El Progreso of Burma, San Bosco, Villanueva and El Delirio to analyze the impact in those sectors.
