Jacó’s Zika outbreak, third in the country

Costa Rica has already registered its third Zika outbreak. This time it’s in Jacó, where eleven local cases have been registered, according to Minister of Health, Dr. Fernando Llorca.

Dr. Llorca stated that despite the health institutions’ efforts, the population is not helping to destroy mosquito breeding areas.

The first outbreak was registered in Guanacaste, followed by Alajuelita and now Jacó. In total, the country has now 25 confirmed cases.

The minister urged the population to destroy and avoid creating mosquito breeding areas.
