Legislator demands explanations from Minister of Finance

Rosibel Ramos, legislator from the Christian Social Unity Party (PUSC), asked Finance Minister Helio Fallas for explanations for statements he offered on the extraordinary budget.

According to the Social-Christian, Fallas disapproved of the plan of expenses offered in the Commission of Control of Income and Public Expenditure of the Legislative Assembly.

Ramos explained that legislator Ottón Solís, from the Citizen Action Party (PAC), asked the hierarch if he would approve the budget, despite being financed at current expense, should he be a legislator.

Fallas replied:

This is a figurative question. If I were a legislator, and I’m risking a lot with what I am going to say, because I have never intended to come to the Assembly, if I were certain that VAT and rent would be approved, I would approve it. If not, then I wouldn’t approve it.”

The legislator presented a motion for Fallas to be questioned before the legislative plenary, but it was was rejected.
