Solís: “Crime in Guácimo has nothing to do with release of prisoners”

President Solís-Facebook

After the atrocious murder of an 8-year-old child in the town of Guácimo, Limón, President Luis Guillermo Solís showed his indignation yesterday in social networks.

Many of his followers on Facebook criticized his comment, attacking him for favoring the release of prisoners, a mandate from the Ministry of Justice.

In view of this, Solís defended himself and said he cannot compare this two facts.

The situation that took place in Guácimo has absolutely nothing to do with transferring prisoners to another scheme, which the Ministry of Justice does in compliance with a decision of the Constitutional Court,”

said the President from Siquirres, during his tour around the Costa Rican Caribbean.

Solís and his wife, Mercedes Peñas, took the opportunity to visit the family of the victim. They did it privately and away from the media.

The President says he was hurt by some of the comments and headlines and calls for reflection, so that such things do not happen again in Costa Rica.
