Uber has been the big winner during taxi drivers’ demonstrations that started yesterday morning.
Uber service has been requested in areas such as Escazú, Santa Ana, Tibás, as well as San Pablo, Heredia, Santo Domingo Barva and surrounding areas.
On Monday night, the transport company announced that from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, the Gran Área Metropolitana (GAM) will be considered a hot spot (red area) due to difficulties to move around.
Taxi drivers demand to the Public Services Regulatory Authority (ARESEP), to control Uber services. However, the institution declared that it doesn’t have the authority to block the application.
