91 people arrested in Jacó during World Surfing Games

During the 2016 World Surfing Games, which took place from August 6th to 14th in Jacó, officers of the security forces arrested 91 people for various reasons.

According to data from the Department of Analysis and Statistics of the Ministry of Public Security, most arrests occurred for violating the Law on Psychotropic Substances, with a total of 85 cases. They also arrested 2 people for disturbing public order, 2 more for violating the Arms and Explosives Act, one for domestic violence and another for violation of the Traffic Law.

During the operation, officers seized 145 doses of marijuana, 60 buds and 81 grams of the same drug. In addition, 13 grams of cocaine and 15 points, 32 rocks of crack, and 32 doses of crystal meth.

They also seized one 9 mm pistol without permits and a knife.

Javier Cordero, director of the security forces in Puntarenas, said that 150 officers participated in the operation, who addressed 714 people in total, 137 vehicles and 29 motorcycles.
