30 people arrested for rioting at the National Stadium

Police arrested 30 people, beleived to be members of the gang, Barra liguista La 12 after riots broke out at the National Statuim on Sunday, during the first match between la Liga Deportiva Alajuelense and the Cartaginés. Police remained outside the stadium as the situation inside deteriorated while under the control of private security.

Although no weapons were found, police did find small quantities of narcotics. Those arrested were taken to the Tribunales de Flagrancia for immediate adjudication. Under the terms of a new law, those caught in incidents related to violence at a national soccer event are barred from attending future events.
