Italian man arrested for carrying 197 ova of cocaine in his body

Officials of the Drug Control Police (PCD) of the Ministry of Public Security prevented a foreigner of Italian nationality from leaving the country because he carried a load of drugs inside his body, exactly 197 ovules containing 1,115 grams of cocaine.

The arrest occurred at Juan Santamaría International Airport located in the province of Alajuela, when the man was nervous, which is why he was detected by the PCD agents, who approached him and discovered he was carrying a drug load.

The PCD transferred him to a medical. The 43-year-old Italian was identified with the surname Biadene, and his final destination was Frankfurt, Germany.

This cocaine load was confiscated, while the foreigner was arrested. He could face from eight to 20 years in prison, according to Law No. 8204, on narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and drugs for unauthorized use.
