A 5-year-old girl was forced to eat soap

A 5-year-old girl was whipped with a plastic hose and she has scars on her back. The little girl was tied up, hidden in the mezzanine of the house and she had cigarrettes burns in her stomach and chest.

In addition, she was forced to eat soap, her hair had fallen due to malnutrition, and she had other severe health problems.

The child was rescued thanks to a neighbor’s warning who visited the house and realized of the situation. This person filed the complaint and authorities immediately intervened.

The prosecutor of Pérez Zeledón raided the house where the child lived, in the area of ​​Ojo de Agua in San Isidro. Authorities arrested three of the four suspects of mistreating her: the girl’s mother and uncle, surnamed Zúñiga Jiménez and the girl’s grandmother, surnamed Jiménes Alvarado.

The child is being assisted at Escalante Pradilla Hospital.
