Solís talked about the complaint presented by Diario Extra

March 21, 2017 by Staff News Writer

President of the Republic Luis Guillermo Solís talked about the complaint presented by Diario Extra: it published that the president’s adviser and tour coordinator is being investigated for reports of sexual and labor harassment against an official.

The subject, surnamed Vargas, is allegedly responsible for harassing one of his co-workers with inappropriate speeches and words and using a rude language in a WhatsApp group where several officials are included.

According to the publication, the official is being investigated by the deputy minister of the Presidency. Despite the allegations, and the fact that the subject is suspended, Solís declared that he has no proofs of the accusation.

Although Vargas is an official of the Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE), he started working in the Presidential House in 2014, where he must organize presidential tours outside the Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM), as well as gather communities’ concerns and needs before the President visits them.

Solís said he does not expect the official to return to the Presidential House.
