A debt for the non-compliance in the payment of the sales tax corresponding to several months of 2015 motivated the closing order against the Wyndham hotel, carried out this Wednesday. This was confirmed by the director of Taxation, Carlos Vargas, noting that it is a debt that amounts to more than ₡100 million.
In 2015, the hotel made the tax return. However, it seems that it never paid the reported amount. In the process the warnings were made and the administrative route was exhausted, until the closing order was issued this Wednesday.
The official added that there is no going back with the measure, and that even after closing of the property, the debt payment order is maintained.
During the closing work, the hotel lawyer Gustavo Araya confirmed to CRHoy that they had 100% occupancy in the hotel, but ruled out that they were in the presence of a tax offense. The legal representative stated that the closing order was arbitrary.
