¢ 200 million to comply with Law 7600

December 9, 2016 by Staff News Writer

In order to comply with the provisions of Law 7600, the Municipality of Desamparados will invest ¢ 200 million for the construction of sidewalks and other additional works in various parts of the canton.

The works began on Monday with the demolition of sidewalks in the downtown area, from the Monseñor Rubén Odio School to the municipality.

Some of the works they have planned are a building pipe string and sidewalks in the sectors Buen Pastor, San Juan de Dios and San Miguel.

Gilberth Jiménez, mayor of Desamparados, said that these works are necessary to provide better conditions for people with disabilities, elderly people and children.

These interventions had been necessary for 10 years, said the local hierarch. Basically they will try to demolish the worn material of the sidewalks and replace it with a new slab of concrete with a division called “tactile footprint” to guide blind people.

Other areas to be repaired are: Barrio Lomas’ entrance, Ebais San Miguel, Priority School of Higuito, San Miguel School, Sotero González School to the South, among others.
