1.14% wage increase was approved for private sector

November 1, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The National Wages Council approved a general increase of 1.14% for minimum wages in the private sector, except for domestic workers, who will receive an increase of 1.5%

This will be published by decree in the Official Gazette in the coming days. The increase will be effective from the first half of January 2017.

Likewise, the National Wages Council approved the new methodology for setting minimum wage increases.

Among other major changes, from now on, there will be an annual review to set the increase percentage, as opposed to the semiannual method that had been applied so far.
