1070 teen moms have received a scholarship

July 20, 2016 by Staff News Writer

1070 teen mothers have received sholarships due to an agreement between the Ministry of Education (MEP) and the Patronato Nacional de la Infancia (PANI).

From February to July this year, they have received 100,000 colones every month in order to improve their life quality and to continue their education.

Students can complete and submit the form in their communities: they don’t have to go to PANI’s local offices. Once the scholarship is approved, schools make sure that students keep going to classes.

To get this scholarship, the teenager needs to meet the following requirements:

-Pregnancy status.
-Partner’s help report.
-Educational lag or family history.
-Aged 10 to 19 years old.
