11 tourists were robbed in Pacuare River while doing rafting

March 11, 2018 by Staff News Writer

A group of 11 tourists who were rafting were robbed by three subjects who threatened them with a gun. The incident occurred on Saturday in the Dos Montañas sector on the Pacuare River, at around 2:30 p.m.

According to police sources in the area, the tourists were stripped of their belongings by the suspects, while they stopped for a snack.

At the point where these people were assaulted, the companies that raft in the area usually make a stop to have some fruit. The rafts park there because there is a backwater of the river. Normally, there are no people in this place, since it is very difficult to reach that area on foot,”

said police authorities.

The sources indicated that the subjects had their faces covered, and after threatening them with a firearm, asked the visitors for their digital cameras, among other accessories.

For now, it is unknown if they are foreign tourists or nationals. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

At this moment, the police carry out various operations to find the possible perpetrators.
