December 1, 2017 by Staff News Writer

A group of 1400 policemen will watch San José in the face of the Christmas festivities and the payment of bonuses.

The security authorities presented on Thursday the so – called “Aguinaldo” operations consisting of a thousand officers of the Public Force and 400 municipal police.

Deputy security minister Juan José Andrade asked citizens to follow the prevention recommendations. He assured that the success of the operation goes hand in hand with the actions of the population

The recommendations suggested by the director of the Public Force are:
• Avoid walking with cash
• Don’t make purchases alone
• Walk through illuminated areas
• Avoid business on public roads
• Be alert to banking scams

For his part, Minister Gustavo Mata highlighted the incorporation of 1,500 policemen in the Costa Rican streets.

The greater police presence is an important aspect to maintain security in the country,”

said Mata, who also announced the purchase of aircraft and radars to fight against organized crime.
