March 10, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Tibás Fire Department

At 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, Tibás Firefighters received an emergency call indicating that a coral snake was in a house in Don Pedro Residences in Moravia.

According to the communications department,

the owners of the house called the authorities when they noticed the presence of the snake in the courtyard of the property and feared that it could enter the house, as they realized it was a venomous coral.”

The officials found that the neighbors had already introduced the animal into a container, so they brought it to the station, where it spent the night,”

reported the firefighters.

But the next morning, when they went to see it, they were surprised to find six eggs that were followed by two more.

Given the situation, the firefighters took the animal to Escazú’s Herpetological Refuge.
