17 Foreign Affairs Ministers won’t recognize Venezuela’s Constituent Assembly

August 8, 2017 by Staff News Writer

On Tuesday, at a meeting in Lima, Ministers of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic representatives of 17 American countries condemned the collapse of democracy in Venezuela and refuse to recognize the recent installation of a constituent assembly.

In a statement read to the press by Peruvian Chancellor Ricardo Luna, they rejected the breach of the democratic order in Venezuela with a constituent assembly chosen on July 30th, which displaced the National Assembly controlled by the opposition, and expressed their decision to not recognizing said constituent Assembly and the acts that emanate from it.
