20% of drivers did not pay the circulation permit on time

January 2, 2019 by Staff News Writer

The deadline to pay the circulation permit without penalties expired on January 31st at noon. In total, 1,247,516 permits were canceled, which translates into the collection of ¢214.99 million, as confirmed by a press release from the National Insurance Institute (INS).

Although a good number of drivers complied with the payment before the date, 20% of them haven’t done that so far. That 20% of delinquency has been maintained since last year.

From January 1st, drivers who haven’t paid will be subject to all the penalties and fines, such as the more-than-50-thousand-colones fine and the removal of the plates.

Nearly 850,000 paid permits correspond to private vehicles, 198,671 to motorcycles, and 162,906 to light-duty vehicles. The rest are for buses, heavy cargo, special equipment and taxis.

If you are one of those who have not yet made the payment, visit the site https://www.grupoins.com or the collection points around the country.
