January 3, 2018 by Staff News Writer

Last year not only reached the highest historical figures for homicides and road deaths in the country. The number of people killed in water accidents also broke the record in the national territory.

According to Jim Batres, National Deputy Director of Risk Management of the Red Cross, the last 12 months registered 116 victims of water accidents in rivers, lagoons and beaches. These cases are part of the 1346 violent deaths registered by the Red Cross in 2017.

We do not have a culture of prevention. We do not teach our children to take security measures, and all institutions make this call,”

said Batres.
