3,300 million in food security for rural areas

June 30, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The Rural Development Institute (INDER) will invest about 3,300 million colones in food and nutrition security, which would benefit about 5,000 people, especially the elderly or disabled.

INDER’s Food Safety Department is responsible for providing farmers with inputs, seeds, seedlings, trees, tools, machinery and other materials for planting and harvesting activities such as basic grains, fruit, vegetables, roots and tubers, etc.

Among the institutions involved in these projects are the National Education and Nutrition Centers and Children’s Comprehensive Care Centers (CINAI), Institute for Social Aid (IMAS), Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), Universities, National Production Council (CNP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
