4.1-Degree quake reported in Guanacaste

The Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) reported an earthquake of 4.1 degrees in the province of Guanacaste on Thyursday.

The tremor occurred at 8:56 a.m. and had a depth of 10 km. Authorities report the epicenter in the Pacific Ocean, 48.7 km west of Junquillal, Santa Cruz, Guanacaste.

At the moment there are reports of several Guanacaste villages that felt the event.

The National Seismological Network, on a preliminary basis, indicated that the quake had a magnitude of 4.5.
