4 of the suspects of bank assault had a record

August 31, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ) confirmed that 4 of the 5 suspects of the bank assault to the agency of National Bank in Río Frío de Sarapiquí have a history of theft and illegal possession of weapons and that they are all Costa Rican nationals.

The suspects are named Fallas Siles (no record), Mayorga Arias, Arce Alfaro, Madrigal Castillo, and Guzmán Solano. The latter received a blow to the ribs while fleeing.

Apparently, the suspects threatened the owner of a home in Finca 5 of Río Frío to leave the house.

There, they barricaded themselves for several hours until the Special Tactical Response Service (SERT) in conjunction with the security forces, succeeded in negotiating to make them come out at about 10:00 p.m.

The Press Office of the OIJ confirmed that the house had ski masks, black clothes, AK-47s of caliber 12 to 22 and a 9 mm pistol, as well as lots of money that apparently reach the 80 million colones.

The hypothesis of one of the suspects being a Red Cross member has yet to be confirmed.

The assault occurred at about 8:30 a.m. on Monday morning at the agency located in Finca 6 in Río Frío, Sarapiquí. Despite not resisting the assault, a cashier and the security guard were shot.

The subjects fled in a black Hyundai vehicle which thy later abandoned near the river in the area, and then went in a gray Toyota. Both vehicles were seized by the OIJ.
