50-thousand-cubic-meter landslide affected Jorco’s riverbed

There was a major landslide in Higuito sector on Wednesday, which covered Jorco River in San Miguel de Desamparados, as seen in the video.

According to Gilberth Jiménez, mayor of Desamparados and president of the Municipal Emergency Committee,

the collapse was 50,000 cubic meters that fell on Jorco River, which covered a part of the canal.”

The chief said that because of the situation,

two families were evacuated and 12 others are on alert in case something happens. The Municipal Emergency Committee is in the area doing all the assessments of the case.”
