715 million colones were allocated to Cártago’s producers

September 14, 2016 by Staff News Writer

In recent months, the production of coffee, sugar cane, vegetables and livestock from areas near the Turrialba volcano, have been affected by floods and ashes. As a result, in order to recover the production, 715 million colones were allocated to more than 2,300 farmers and stockbreeders.

The funds, which come from the National Emergency Commission (CNE) were delivered symbolically to the affected ones by President Luis Guillermo Solís and Minister of Agriculture Luis Felipe Arauz, during an activity in Turrialba.

Arauz added that officials from the Ministry of Agriculture are providing technical assistance and training to the affected farmers.
