744 school cafeterias will be open until February 3rd, 2017

December 23, 2016 by Staff News Writer

744 school cafeterias will remain open and will provide service until February 3rd.

The Ministry of Public Education (MEP) declared that the cafeterias will be open from December 19th, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm and from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

Some of them are located in indigenous populations or areas in poverty.

The plan will include supervision, inclusion of student transportation in some cases, field visits and daily accompaniment by a group of officials from the Direction of Equity Programs. In addition, a single menu was established to control the dynamics.

During this year, the project served 158,641 lunches in the enabled cafeterias.

In addition to schools, the MEP plans to open all school cafeterias in the area affected by Hurricane Otto. It will only include those whose infrastructure can provide the service.
