800 natives from Turrialba received medical attention

December 12, 2016 by Staff News Writer

A total of 800 natives from the Tsipirí area of Turrialba received medical care over the weekend, thanks to public and private entities.

This is part of a medical tour organized by the Pro Indígena Quircó Association, headed by Jorge Fernández, who has more than 40 years performing these activities.

The objective of this tour is to assist that population, located in the Chirripó Cabécar Indigenous Reserve. Some of the volunteers are students from Universidad Hispanoamercana.

400 bags of candy and 400 bags of gifts will be delivered to these people living in extreme poverty.

According to Rosy López, a fourth-year student, each of them provided medical care to approximately 40 natives, who usually have a hard time to get health services since it is very difficult to leave the mountain.
