Turrialba volcano keeps expelling ash

October 31, 2016 by Staff News Writer

In a month and a half, Turrialba volcano has had constant eruption of ash and October 31st is not exception.

Javier Pacheco, from the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI), said that although the ash column does not exceed 500 meters, the eruption itself is constant.

According to the expert, due to the wind direction, it is estimated that residents from the Central Valley will be the most affected ones.

The wind direction changed on October 29th, we started getting more westerly winds compared to previous weeks. Now the affected area is the Central Valley. We’ve received reports from there,

added Pacheco.
