Turrialba volcano had a new eruption that reached 1,000 meters above the crater on November 9th.

It was reported by the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) on its Facebook profile, which states that it all started at 11:15 am on Wednesday morning.

Social networks users from the Central Valley have reported great amount of ash and a strong smell of sulfur.

Floribeth Vega, an expert from OVSICORI, urged Costa Ricans to protect themselves from ashfall and she told that citizens can’t get used to the behavior of the volcano.

It is important to take measures of prevention and protection, especially those who are near the volcano and who are more sensitive to changes in the environment or who suffer from respiratory problems, asthma, allergies, or bronchial and cardiovascular problems,

posted Vega on the organization’s Facebook page.
