69 kilos of cocaine in truck full of paints

A man driving a truck with Honduran plate, carrying car paints, was arrested this weekend by the Drug Control Police (PCD) in the northern border for mobilizing cocaine.

The driver, a Honduran citizen named Torres, was traveling with 69 kilos of cocaine and more than $ 700 and 6,300 córdobas (Nicaraguan currency).

According to the report of the PCD, the van entered the country on November 1st from Honduras, where he planned to return on Saturday before being arrested. The man had no criminal records in Honduras. The drug and the man were transferred to the Public Prosecutor for due process,”

said the police.

According to police, this is the seventh case in which they stop a drug-carrying van in 2016.

The cocaine was hidden in packages with the logo of a hot pepper and was attached to one of the walls of the container.

Torres may go to prison for up to 20 years.
