Seismic signal increases in Turrialba volcano

November 21, 2016 by Staff News Writer

According to the latest data from the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) there is an increase in the amplitude of the seismic signal in the station near the top of Turrialaba Volcano.

The specialists from OVSICORI say the tremor signal has is 10 times stronger than on Friday. Of course, they also stated that this cannot be associated with an eruption, since the webcam located in the top is no longer working and the cloudiness of the place is greater.

For now, the winds are running south from the top of the volcano and if there is an eruption of material, the most affected places would be Cartago, ParaĆso, Orosi, among others.
