Otto would increase violence against women

November 23, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Hurricane Otto not only affects the country with heavy rains. Unfortunately, it could also increase domestic and sexual violence against women, according to the Strategic Action for Human Rights Association (ACCEDER).

Given the ravages of the hurricane and before its future eminent effects, remember the differential impact of socio-environmental disasters, since they enhanced existing situations of vulnerability,”

says a statement sent by the entity.

In addition, the institution made a call to follow existing protocols in case of any complaints.

We will continue the fight, for 2016 is finally the year that every woman requiring emergency contraception can access it through public health services as well as all sexual and reproductive health they require,”

added the document.
