On Tuesday, President Luis Guillermo Solís announced that the areas of San Carlos, Guatuso, Los Chiles, Upala, Sarapiqui and Río Cuarto de Grecia were declared on red alert by the country’s authorities.

For now, we ask to start a voluntary evacuation as a preventive measure before the arrival of tropical phenomenon,”

said the president.

In the morning, he had issued the same alert in the northern Caribbean for Boca Pacuare, Parismina, Barra del Colorado, Tortuguero Bar, Puerto Lindo and Delta Costa Rica.

These locations already started a compulsory evacuation.
