90% of CCSS employees in Upala were affected by hurricane

November 29, 2016 by Staff News Writer

90% of nursing and physician staff at Hospital de Upala suffered from the ravages of Hurricane Otto on the country.

Until Monday, 17 of them were still unable to report to work, since they are dealing with the consequences of the hurricane on their homes.

As a result, services have been strengthened with hospital staff from Heredia and San Carlos. The goal is continue working.

This medical center suffered no significant damage to its structure. Some mild damages were reported at the water treatment plant, the fire pump system and some leaks. The majority of these problems have already been fixed.

Few people went to the health service after the emergency. Authorities say it must be because communities are still isolated.

This weekend 3 Ebais were opened: one in Bijagua and another 2 in Aguas Claras and San José.

Authorities of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS), reported that there are 3 Ebais that were unable to resume work.

Since Monday, 11 more teams will be working in the area. These teams are made up of medical, nursing and mental health personnel, among others.
