Routes: 6 flooded, 1 closed and 18 regulated

November 29, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The roads are part of the infrastructure that suffered the attacks of Hurricane Otto. The cost of the repairs reaches an investment close to ¢ 8.552 million.

According to the latest report by the Minister of Public Works and Transport (MOPT), Carlos Villalta, there are six routes that continue to be flooded, which does not mean they are closed since tall vehicles can still drive safely in those places.

There are also 18 routes with regulated passage, most of them because of landslides that are being cleaned, but do not prevent the transit.

However, there is one route that has being closed due to the collapse of the bridge on the Blanco River: route 165 between Guayabo and La Fortuna.

There are 21 additional routes with mild damages to be corrected in the future, since they do not represent a risk for people.

In total, there were 85 roads that presented some problem because of the rains, the hurricane and the cold front in 334 points.

In addition, the authorities indicated that the routes that connect the canton of Upala with Cañas, Bagaces and San Carlos are kept clear thanks to the cleaning operations that are carried out throughout the country.
