December 1, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Politicians from all parties used their social networks to express their condolences for Luis Alberto Monge’s death, but they also highlighted the legacy of his presidency.

Oscar Arias, former president, was the last to express his condolences to Monge’s family and joined the chorus of people who have shown their love and respect.

Luis Alberto was a courageous and firm man in his convictions. A man who will be remembered for his commitment to public service. Nobody can deny that Luis Alberto loved Costa Rica and worked tirelessly for it,

wrote Arias.

In addition, former president Laura Chinchilla also used social networks to express her opinion.

Among many compliments, Chinchilla stated that Monge was the last of the founding fathers of the Second Republic, the most peaceful, prosperous and democratic period that has lived the national, institutional history and he was one of its main protagonists.

Politicians like José María Figueres, Miguel Ángel RodrÍguez, Otto Guevara and Luis Guillermo Solís, are part of the figures who referred to Monge’s death, who died due to a heart problem, before turning 91 years old.
