National economy will continue growing for next year

December 8, 2016 by Staff News Writer

If exports continue to grow as they did in 2016, the domestic production will maintain a 4% growth for 2017.

Economist Ronulfo Jiménez explained that growth prospects continue, but risks such as the new US policy and the fiscal deficit should not be neglected.

In 2016, sectors such as tourism, export of services, and exports from free trade zones reported a growth of around 4.2%, whereas the construction sector and industry outside free zones did not keep the same trend.

For next year, an inflation close to 3% is estimated, as long as no major changes are occurring in the international prices of raw materials.
