“Project 40” will open all school cafeterias in Upala and Guatuso

December 8, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The Ministry of Public Education (MEP), will keep all school cafeterias open in the North Regional Directorate, specifically those located in the cantons of Guatuso and Upala.

Orlando de la O, Director of Management and Regional Development from MEP, said the Minister of Education, Sonia Marta Mora, decided to extend the measure in all these areas, due the situation experienced after Hurricane Otto.

The school year ends on December 13th and the cafeterias’ doors will be opened from December 19th.

It’s called Project 40 because of the amount of days that the cafeterias will be opened,”

explained De la O. The 2017 school year will start on February 6th.

Last year, the Ministry kept 121 school cafeterias opened during the holidays’ end and beginning of the year, in 75 of the poorest cantons. The measure was repeated during the mid-year vacation in 2016.
