The mayor of San José: “the MOPT is not providing the due road maintenance!”

January 3, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Mayor of San José Johnny Araya complained to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT) for not providing the due maintenance that corresponds to the national roads that pass through the city of San José.

The municipality is assuming part of MOPT responsibilities because many of these are national roads, but the MOPT is not restoring them,

said Araya.

According to the mayor, the ministry does not comply with the maintenance of the roads and it is affecting Costa Ricans, especially San José residents, and the city council has had to take those responsibilities.

It is our priority to maintain the road network that has been very deteriorated,

informed the mayor.
