Green alert to remain until Tuesday

January 9, 2017 by Staff News Writer

On Saturday, the National Emergency Commission (CNE) declared a green alert in the Caribbean, South Pacific, Central Valley and the Northern Zone, due to the influence of cold front in the national territory.

Esquivel Lidier, head of Research and Risk Analysis of the CNE, said the alert will remain at least until Tuesday.

According to the National Meteorological Institute (IMN), this climatological phenomenon would generate an increase in trade winds, rainfall and a drop in temperature between 1 ° and 3 ° Celsius.

For this reason, the population must take precautions against possible decreases in temperature, strong winds and rain. Be careful of strong wind gusts as they can cause tree branches, power lines, ceilings and other structures to break and fall. And keep strict surveillance on areas and villages likely to be affected by floods.
