January 9, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The Drug Control Police (PCD), arrested the first 2 mules of the year. They were apprehended in the kilometer 35 in the southern part of the country.

The men carried bags of cocaine in their stomachs. According to the report of the Ministry of Public Security (MSP), the arrests occurred at different times, when they entered the country.

The first case occurred in a routine police check: authorities inspected an Expreso Panamá bus that came from the neighboring country.

A 37-year-old Colombian passenger, surnamed Valenzuela, was nervous and after conducting a secondary inspection, it was known that he was carrying latex gloves, adhesive tape and tablets.

Radiological tests were immediately ordered and officers discovered that he had bags inside his stomach. Authorities also seized $ 1,259.

The same situation took place at the same place hours later, when a 40-year-old Mexican passenger, surnamed Chaves, was traveling in a Ticabús unit. The suspect also had latex gloves, adhesive tape and pills. After the radiological tests, authorities also found drug bags in his stomach.
