Uber drivers are scared!

January 26, 2017 by Staff News Writer

An audio in social networks has frightened Uber drivers. The recording denounces alleged threats by taxi drivers who usually work near San Pedro Mall.

The audio warns Uber drivers that the association is planning to hurt them, so they recommend not to pick up customers near the taxi stands.

The taxi drivers are going to start asking for Uber services and when drivers get there, they are planning to threaten them and order them to leave the car. After that, they are going to burn the vehicle in front of the Presidential House or in front of the President’s house,

informed the recording.

When asked about the situation, Rubén Vargas, from the Costa Rican Taxi Drivers Union, declared it was an Uber platform strategy.

We will not accept such complaints. Taxi drivers are not trying to violate the legal system. Here the only ones who are breaking the laws are Uber drivers because they are illegal. The taxi driver Union is waiting for the resolution from both the Constitutional Chamber and the Administrative Litigation Court,

declared Vargas.
