These women survived cancer and they want to rejoin society

February 3, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Leidy Hernández, a 30-year-old woman, did not know about her ability on craftsmanship. 8 months ago, in the midst of her therapies to fight colon cancer, she discovered her talent and now she wants to show her products.

Leidy faces, like many women survivors of cancer, a new struggle: rejoining herself in a job, that strengthens her even more, to move on with her life.

On the other hand, Venezuelan Wen Quintero is a “Venetica” and she survived breast cancer.

She commented that she was cured of cancer in Costa Rica, “her home”, and she describes life after cancer as a strong stage in her life.

Today, thanks to the sale of a Colombian-brand underwear, it was possible to rejoin a job and society. Her message is that people are not alone in the struggle and with hope, family support and physical activity, they can get ahead.

Leidy and Wen are part of a fair that aims to help women survivors of cancer by exposing their products.

María Isabel Ramírez, director of the Foundation for Quality of Life for People with Cancer (FUNCAVIDA), explained that the fair will be held for 3 days in the esplanade located in front of the pharmacy service at México Hospital.

The women will exhibit their products until February 4th, the day on which the World Fight against Cancer is celebrated.

There will be a family recreational race to finish the activities.
