Rueditas de Amor project helped an 85-year-old aunty

February 27, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Maribel Cerdas, a resident from Siquiares in Alajuela, could not afford the wheelchair her senior aunt Leticia needs.

The woman now says God sent her an angel because a friend told her that Club Activo 20-30 would be donating wheelchairs.

I submitted my aunt’s information because she is 85 years old and needs the chair because of her health and psychiatric problems. This is a great blessing,”

commented Maribel.

On Saturday, more than 50 standard wheelchairs were delivered to people from different parts of the country, as part of the “Rueditas de Amor” project.

Christian Reyes, president of the Club Activo 20-30 said the wheelchairs are manufactured in Canada and delivered in Costa Rica free of charge, after studying the conditions of the people who ask for them.

Last week some of them were delivered and all the beneficiaries met on Saturday at the National Center of Culture (CENAC), in downtown San José, for the official delivery.

The chairs were donated by the manufacturers, the Wheel Chair Foundation of Canada, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of the United States and Canada.
