If La Platina was closed for you yesterday, today it is open

March 1, 2017 by Staff News Writer

If yesterday was a restriction day for you to transit La Platina, today you’ll be able to drive through the General Cañas highway at any time.

This is one of the new provisions of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT) regarding the transit on the road where they are building a new bridge since January.

According to the new disposition, all light vehicles can circulate without any problems the day after the vehicular restriction, even in restricted times. The other days of the week, they must use the closing timetable from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Works on the Alajuela-San José road would end on March 15th, while the full bridge, with three lanes per direction, should be ready by April 30th.
Mario Calderón, director of the Traffic Police, said there will be more vehicular fluid because of this measure, so they ask drivers to take be aware of this.
