President Solís will go to the United States and meet with Pence

March 8, 2017 by Staff News Writer

President Luis Guillermo Solís will start his second official tour of 2017. He published on his Facebook profile that he will visit the United States, specifically New York and Washington, from March 13th to March 17th.

In January, he went to the United Arab Emirates.

Solís will present the final report of actions and good practices for the effective inclusion of women in the labor field at the the High-Level Board for the Economic Empowerment of Women, a task that Bam Ki Moom, former secretary general of the UN, entrusted him.

After that visit to New York, president Solís, along with chancellor Manuel González and Foreign Trade minister Alexand Mora will go to the American capital city.

There, he will meet with vice president Michael Pence, s secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly, as well as with several senators and other authorities from that country.

According to Solís, this visit aims to monitor and strengthen the historical cooperation that was granted to Costa Rica last year.

The President assured that this visit has a clear objective that will benefit Costa Rica.

I know that for some of you these trips may seem unnecessary, even annoying or superfluous. However, I assure you that I do this for the interest of the country,”

declared Solís.
