These are the changes of the new Costa Rican passport

The Immigration Department started printing new passports, which come with three changes aimed at increasing the security measures of the documents.

The following pictures show the changes:

The images will change colors, depending on the angle.

There is a security layer to protect personal data.

A new security thread and the words “Republic of Costa Rica” that can only be read against the light.

This is the F series and it has been printing since the beginning of March. The lot consists of 400 thousand passports.

In 2016, only 267,346 passport requests were received in the different offices.

These improvements in passports reinforce the security of this document in the pursuit of the security of its bearer, not only protecting the data contained therein, but for international use before other immigration authorities,”

said Gisela Yockchen, Director General of Migration.
