The sexual harassment investigation against an ICE official is now a controversial case

March 23, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The investigation against an official of the Presidential House for alleged sexual harassment is now a controversial case, because of the time it took the Vice Minister of the Presidency to report the it.

Apparently, Ana Gabriel Zuñiga was aware of the situation since December 2015, but the investigation started in February 2016, as stated by Diario Extra, that reported the situation.

Zuñiga would have hidden the information from her immediate bosses, Minister of the Presidency Sergio Alfaro and President Luis Guillermo Solis.

However, the Presidency emphasized the case was never ignored and the due process has been followed. They say that it is a sensitive issue because when it comes to sexual harassment, few people know about it.

The subject involved, surnamed Vargas, is an ICE official, but he was assigned to coordinate Solís’ tours outside the metropolitan area.

As the President mentioned last Monday, he never witnessed any indiscipline in the tours. This was reiterated by the Minister of Communication.
