A young man reported an alleged abuse of authority

April 3, 2017 by Staff News Writer

A young man identified as Victor Wu Liu reported an alleged abuse of authority by police officers at a restaurant in Pavas.

It all happened on Saturday, at around 11:00 p.m., when, without apparent reason, several officers of the Ministry of Public Safety’s Operational Support Group (MSP) asked several clients to leave the place and then they allegedly threw a tear gas into the establishmentl.

Wu Liu declared that he did not understand the policemen’s performance, especially since everything in the restaurant was quiet and they did not know why they were attacking them.

This is not the first time this happens. They always come asking for documents and permits and we give everything to them, but this time, they crossed the line,

said the young man.

After firing the gas, the policemen left, while those who remained inside hid in one room.

The Press Office of the MSP informed that authorities already know of the situation and that an investigation of the police action was initiated.
